Additional Programs and Initiatives
Help Provide Safe Housing for Families Returning to Haiti
PSST Leadership Council hopes to launch a housing initiative to support vulnerable families who have been deported or forced to return to Haiti from the United States and the Dominican Republic without stable housing or resources to begin again.
The program would help provide safe and dignified housing for approximately 40 of the most vulnerable individuals and families served throughout PSST's national ministry network. Particular attention would be given to vulnerable seniors, mothers with young children, and families with no reliable support system.
For families returning to Haiti with few possessions and nowhere to live, stable housing can provide the foundation needed to begin rebuilding their lives. By helping families move out of unsafe or unstable living conditions, this initiative seeks to reduce homelessness and create a secure environment where individuals and families can live with dignity.
Through the support of donors and partners, PSST hopes to provide lasting housing solutions and help vulnerable returnees move from displacement and uncertainty toward stability and security.
PSST Food Security Distribution Program
PSST Leadership Council hopes to expand its Food Security Distribution Program in response to the growing challenges of hunger and food insecurity affecting vulnerable communities throughout Haiti.
The program focuses on providing regular food assistance to individuals and families who face significant barriers to accessing food, including seniors and people with severe mobility challenges. Whenever possible, food assistance would be delivered directly to those who are unable to travel to distribution locations.
PSST already treats hundreds of malnourished children and provides food supplements to thousands of families throughout the country. Its nutrition programs prioritize essential food support, micronutrient supplements, and nutrition education for families struggling to meet their basic nutritional needs.
The Sisters work in communities where access to assistance from other organizations and government programs may be limited or unavailable. Through the continued support of donors and partners, PSST hopes to expand its ability to provide nourishment and essential support to families facing food insecurity.
PSST is committed to providing appropriate documentation of supported projects, including photo and video updates when possible, to help demonstrate the impact of donor and partner contributions.
PSST Community Home Garden and Cooperative Poultry Farm Program
PSST Leadership Council hopes to launch the Community Home Garden and Cooperative Poultry Farm Program to help address malnutrition while promoting sustainable food production and greater household food security.
The program would initially support 50 vulnerable children and their mothers through PSST's community and clinical networks. Participating families would receive the tools, seeds, resources, and training needed to establish and maintain home gardens capable of producing fresh fruits and vegetables.
The cooperative poultry component would help participating families gain access to additional sources of protein through eggs and poultry production. By combining practical agricultural resources with training, the initiative seeks to strengthen nutrition while helping mothers and families develop skills that can support greater long-term food independence.
This program is designed to create a sustainable, community-based approach to improving nutrition and household resilience. Support from partners would help fund seeds, gardening materials, livestock, training, and other resources needed to establish and maintain the program.
PSST Goat Farm Community Initiative Program
PSST Leadership Council hopes to launch the Goat Farm Community Initiative Program, combining youth achievement, education, and sustainable livestock development.
The initiative would recognize students who achieve a Pass With Distinction by providing them with the opportunity to receive a young goat to raise and care for at home. Through this experience, participating students would learn practical skills in animal care, responsibility, and livestock management.
The program would also incorporate a community-based “pay-it-forward” model. As participating families successfully raise their livestock, offspring could be returned to the central farm to help expand the program and provide opportunities for future participants.
By connecting educational achievement with practical agricultural skills, the initiative seeks to encourage academic excellence while creating opportunities for long-term economic development and sustainable livestock farming.
Partner support would help provide the initial livestock, farm infrastructure, veterinary care, training, and resources necessary to establish and sustain the program.
PSST Sponsorship Initiative for Sisters in Formation
PSST Leadership hopes to establish a sponsorship initiative to support Sisters as they continue their religious formation, education, and preparation for ministry.
The Sisters of PSST dedicate their lives to serving communities throughout Haiti through education, healthcare, pastoral ministry, community development, and other essential services. Continued formation and education help prepare them to lead and strengthen these ministries over the course of their religious lives.
Support through this initiative would help provide resources for educational opportunities, professional training, spiritual formation, and appropriate living expenses during periods of formation and preparation for ministry.
By investing in the formation and development of the Sisters, donors and partners can help strengthen the future leadership and long-term capacity of PSST's ministries throughout Haiti.
Emergency Response and Long-Term Community Development
PSST is committed to responding to both immediate humanitarian emergencies and the long-term needs of the communities it serves in Haiti and Colombia.
During times of crisis—including natural disasters, disease outbreaks, and other emergencies—the Sisters work to provide relief supplies, healthcare support, and assistance to vulnerable individuals and families. Their presence within communities allows them to identify urgent needs and respond alongside the people they serve.
PSST's work also extends beyond emergency response. Through healthcare, education, nutrition, agriculture, pastoral ministry, and community development, the congregation seeks to support stronger and more resilient communities over the long term.
Particular attention is given to vulnerable populations, including women with young children, children, underserved families, seniors, and elderly individuals who may face significant barriers to accessing essential services.
Through partnerships and sustained investment, PSST hopes to strengthen its capacity to respond during emergencies while continuing to build programs that improve health, opportunity, dignity, and long-term community well-being.
Establishment of a Premier Vocational and Advanced Learning Institute equipping young people in Haiti project:
Youth Empowerment:The PSST leadership Council would like to launch a digital campaign to establish a premier Vocational and Advanced Learning Institute for Haiti’s vulnerable youth. This modern training hub will equip young people with the high-demand technical skills necessary to break the cycle of poverty and secure sustainable career development. By transforming raw potential into professional expertise, the institute will bridge the local employment gap and foster a new generation of skilled entrepreneurs. Your urgent partnership will directly fund state-of-the-art learning equipment, expert instructors, and career-readiness programs across our ministry networks. Invest in our youth empowerment initiative today to build a self-reliant workforce and drive lasting economic transformation for the entire community.
Economic Self-Sufficiency and Resilience: PSST Leadership is launching an innovative digital campaign to build long-term economic self-sufficiency through two highly impactful social enterprises. This sustainable initiative pairs a 50-room community guesthouse with a commercial poultry farm to create local jobs and stimulate economic resilience. Instead of relying solely on temporary donations, 100% of the profits and revenue generated by these businesses will directly subsidize critical healthcare and vital social services across our ministry networks. This brilliant, dual-purpose ecosystem transforms traditional charity into a self-sustaining model that protects the community's health and futures independently. Your visionary partnership will fund the initial infrastructure and launch costs, laying the foundation for a proud, self-reliant Haiti that funds its own essential care.
Early Childhood and family Preservation: PSST Leadership is launching a vital digital campaign to establish a temporary transit pavilion dedicated to early childhood care and family preservation. This safe haven will provide secure, affordable lodging for displaced young parents and their infants who have suddenly found themselves with nowhere else to go. Beyond a roof, the pavilion delivers a holistic support ecosystem featuring essential nutrition, medical screenings, and parental guidance to keep fragile families safely united during their darkest times. By intervening during a child's critical early development years, this initiative protects infants from severe neglect and breaks the generational cycle of displacement. Your compassionate partnership will directly fund emergency beds, medical supplies, and newborn care packages needed to rescue these young families and restore their security.
Integrated Healthcare Infrastructure: PSST Leadership is launching an urgent digital campaign to expand four of our essential healthcare centers into fully functional community hospitals. This critical infrastructure upgrade will bring life-saving medical care directly to underserved regions by installing comprehensive maternal care units, advanced diagnostic labs, and fully stocked pharmacies. By scaling up these facilities, we will drastically reduce preventable maternal mortality and give thousands of remote families immediate access to testing and affordable prescription medications. This integrated medical network transforms fragile local clinics into permanent pillars of wellness, ensuring no patient is turned away or forced to travel hours for emergency care. Your vital partnership will directly fund the medical equipment, laboratory tools, and clinical supplies needed to build these hospitals and safeguard the health of entire Haitian communities.
